Dress shopping can be a daunting task for some girls. I used to have a hard time hunting for the ‘perfect’ dress that complemented my God-given shape. With a shorter torso and broad shoulders, I have found that looser, belted dresses suit me more then structured, fitted ones. I still like to experiment with different styles of dresses, even when they don’t look as good on me! Wearing a bold accessory or a sweater overtop can make for a completely different look. I find belting dresses to be very slimming. It provides a focal point and pulls the dress together rather than “billowing” out. Currently I am finding my silky halter-top dress and strapless dress (both from Mahina) to be the most flattering for my figure! I know I am totally breaking the “no strapless dresses for broad shoulders” rule but it seems to working for me.

Dresses are so freeing and fun to wear! It’s okay to be a little obsessed and have a large collection in your closet…as long as you wear them! There is nothing more that says “I love being a girl” than wearing a pretty ‘shress’ and a smile to go with it!
