In the midst of essay writing and endless readings, I find it difficult to keep up with the rest of my life. Lately I’ve been hitting the snooze button on my alarm countless times before I get out of bed and end up scrambling to get ready…I literally run to school! The days when I drag myself out of bed early usually end up being the best. I have a decent amount of time to enjoy breakfast, pack my lunch and fix myself up nicely. : )
This past week a chinook rolled through town, it was nice to walk out of the house wearing only one layer instead of the usual ensamble of hat, scarf and down jacket. I feel most comfortable when I am in an oversized plaid shirt and jeans. While this outfit is nothing special, its the one I reach for the most!
It felt like spring today! I opened the door in the morning and was greeted by a gust of warm wind and the sound of melting snow dripping from the roof. I was finally able to walk to school without my usual winter jacket and hat combo. Although I have thoroughly enjoyed winter and all the beauty it has brought, the coming of warmer weather will be much anticipated!
It’s hard to get away with dressing up and not wearing big down coats, hats & sorrels. We snapped these pictures in -20 weather, our hands were about to fall off! When you live in thermals and ski touques all the time, top knots are about all you can do with your hair at the end of the day.
I am so enjoying being home for Christmas. It’s wonderful to take a break from the city and escape to the frosted forest on our acreage! Every Christmas is full of gatherings with friends and family in which everyone feels festive. On a last minute Christmas shopping excursion I found this Joe Fresh polkadot shirt for $5! That, pared with my maroon Zara pants makes me feel quite Christmas-y. : )
I feel rather festive in my new Zara knit sweater dress and red hat! Winter, for me, is all about being cozy and warm. My Sorels and wooly socks have been essential for cold, snowy walks to school and back!
The other day I pulled out one of my summer dresses pairing it with black tights and a cozy sweater from Zara. For the majority of the summer I practically live in dresses but since it gets reeeaally cold where I live they sit in my closet during the long winter months. It’s nice to bring some floral prints back into my life since I have been wearing mostly neutral sweaters and leggings for the past little while!
hope you stay warm!
It is not even December yet and I have defiantly had my fair share of Starbucks Christmas drinks! I really enjoy taking little walking/coffee/talking breaks like this in the day, they get me really excited about life!! Hoping everyone is getting in the Christmas spirit as we’ll have a playlist coming out soon!!
I absolutely loved my time in Canmore. It was truly a winter wonderland with white mountains, frozen creeks and the crunch of snow beneath our feet. Michaela and I rediscovered how wonderful gingerbread latte’s were and I’ve been drinking nothing but them since! Winter walks with Michaela are the perfect excuse to raid her closet and bundle up in a scarf, hat, cozy jacket, warm socks and boots!
The first snowfall of the year is so exciting for me. Sometimes its fun to throw on a lumberjack outfit even though the snow may not last, it is such a fun and fresh start for winter fashion. I love to pull out the old coats from my closet and see what I have from years gone by, like this old lumberjack jacket of my moms.
Here is one of my favorite winter quotes:
“Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.”
― Edith Sitwell
stay warm out there!
